The territory around the Rocca Federico II hides many treasures: besides truffle, San Miniato offers excellent wine and food with unique flavours. In this section we present distinctive wine and sparkling wine, born in a unique micro-climate, thanks to the passion and effort that San Miniato people put in this tradition, generation after generation. The discovering of ancient vineyards and the techniques unifying past and future, make this territory an atelier of taste for true connoisseurs.
Located on the ancient Francigena Way, the Beconcini family is one of the main producers of typical tuscan wines like Sangiovese, Chianti and Vinsanto, and the guardians of the tuscan secret of Tempranillo.
The history of Pietro Beconcini Agricola begins in the early 50’s. Leonardo Beconcini is part of the fourth generation of winemakers in his family. His project starts in the early 90’s, with many years of territory studies and mass selection, after the first year of “Sangiovese in Purezza” in 1995 the Reciso was born.
Located at the bottom of San Miniato hills the Cupelli farm in 1952 started to cultivate grapes, and to produce Tuscan wines from the local vines of Trebbiano Toscano, Canaiolo, Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Colombana. Today Cupelli is one of the main producers of sparkling wine, made using traditional tuscan method.
The cellar was managed by Amelio Cupelli, and his wine, even then, had special characteristics and remarkable qualities in acidity and freshness. Thanks to these peculiarities we were sure of the great potential of the territory and its grapes, and so in 2008 the project of natural fermentation of sparkling wine began.
